Interesting! However, as much as I would love to give my buyers time to decide
having stock out of my inventory but still in my physical shop that long will
create errors. What if I am adding stock to any of these lots? How will I note
the quantity discrepancy?

they won't even allow that stock to be held up for 3 days! I mean 3 days?
really?
Any inconvenience you may have as a seller is comparatively minor compared to
the buyer who just wants to secure some items whilst they wait for a quote? It
takes a buyer a lot of effort to put a quote together and having a single item
disappear invalidates that quote making the process of requesting a quote next
to useless and extremely unhelpful from the buyers perspective!
Besides I don't really understand your concerns? You just add your new stock
to your inventory and regardless of which way the quote goes inventory will be
corrected accordingly however even if I'm overlooking something here we're
still probably talking about a 1 in 500 chance of an inconvenience to a seller
compared to a 1 in 5 chance of inconvenience to the buyer as there is a very
high chance of a quote being invalidated due to another buyer taking an item
contained within that quote!

Ah, I am not sure this is addressing my concern. I was simply worried about a
scenario where a buyer could place an order (taking the items out of my inventory)
and then that order and those parts would be in limbo for the time specified
for the buyer to decide to complete that order. For example, the 3 days that
were suggested here.
Do I get to see these orders before the buyer decides to pay for them? I would
have to account for these parts being 'reserved but not purchased' during
this in limbo time.
I don't know what a 1 in 500 chance refers to, but for any system that could
generate errors in my store inventory, I would be much more cautious than that!
I never add new stock without first clearing all open orders to be sure that
I don't adjust any item quantities incorrectly.
