I was lucky - it was only plates that broke.

My phone impression is that the heating cooling profile on the injection molding
machine was somehow involved. Just a hunch tho.

As far as I know from a Lego employee, at that time the New Dark Red and Reddish
Brown parts were stored at the top row in the warehouse, there the temperature
was higher during the day versus the night as it was exactly below the ceiling.
They now have better insulation on the roof and don't keep stock too much
time in the top rows.
