I measured the black string to be 75cm (from 2 new sets with no bin). However, I am only seeing 1 string in each set. I bought these 2nd hand and the 1x16 tech bricks were not polybagged, nor were the long electric cables. I suppose it's possible those parts were polybagged with a string, but since I am only seeing 1 string, I'm only requesting a delete/add for 1 string. I'll attach a pic of the polybag the string came in. Thanks!

I requested to delete 1, but looks like it automatically requested to delete

I believe it's allowed, one wishes that buyers would be a bit more honest
though.

But a nothing says a dropshipper couldn't order from bricklink. Besides there
are tons of different reasons to ship to a different address: a gift, item you

Yes, to be clear a BrickLink seller can't dropship since BL sellers can only
list what they actually have in inventory (maybe an exception can be made for
inventory mistakes, etc.). But there isn't anything stopping people from
listing on e.g., eBay, and then dropshipping from BL.
|
Yes exactly this ^
Bricklink doesn't want people selling what they don't have to hand here
because that can create a bad buyer experience. However it will be of little
concern to Bricklink if the buyer is shopping from another platform and the goods
are drop shipping from Bricklink
|
The only time we step in is if the dropshipper is a professional buyer and starts
giving sellers a hard time about orders that didn't go well. Otherwise, we
tolerate them - because a lot of our sellers appreciate the business.
|
Yes personally I'm happy to take orders from drop shippers but for my own
sales I prefer to hold the inventory else things can get messy with sourcing
as well as jeopardizing own feedback when relying too heavily on the service
and accuracy of others

| Hallo an alle!
wirklos.
Danke im voraus für eure Hilfe

Seems to me anyway, that simply restricting zero feedback members the use of
links in the forum, would immediately eliminate most current spam posts and deter
future ones. Haven’t been looking that close at these posts, but from what I’ve
seen, it’s presenting links they have as a common purpose or motivation. Removing
motivation is often a subtle yet effective tack in life.
Could be that it’s not all that simple, technically to implement. I don’t know,
but if doable, why not? Personally don't find the spam posts all that bothersome.
Many do though, and if there's an easy fix to tidy things up a bit...

The spam posts tend to get removed really quite fast, at least at the times of
day when I see them (and report them). Links only work if people click on them.
If nobody clicks on them then there is no motivation to post more. Yet still
they post and post.

Yes, it is allowed. If it is a dropshipper, you may get a nice repeat customer.
Also, just because the buyer's info is different doesn't automatically
make it a dropship. It could be a seller short of parts on an order who wants
you to ship the missing parts directly to their customer.

Hmm, to put these arches on the ‘manor’ part, you need other small parts that
are not in the inventory: a 1x2 brick, 2x 1x1 plates and 2x (1 or 2)x3 plates….
You could do without the (1 or 2)x3 plates with the Extra 1x2 and 2x2….
And you can get one 2x3 if you can use the (1 and 2)x10 plates instead of the
(1x2)x8 ones on the walkway… but it doesn’t seem like they did that on the pic.
A head-scatcher….

Ah ha! On the alternate build shown on the instructions, we can see a 3rd arch
used (and we can infer a 4th one on the other side).
So, according to the rules, at least these two should be Regular 🤔

And there’s already three LG plates (a 1x10, a 2x2, and a 2x10) in Regular that
are not needed for the main build and that are not visible on the alternate.
The plot thickens 🤔

Yes, we know that inventory needs some work.
The "extra" arches are actually shown in the instructions:

Yes, to be clear a BrickLink seller can't dropship since BL sellers can only
list what they actually have in inventory (maybe an exception can be made for
inventory mistakes, etc.). But there isn't anything stopping people from
listing on e.g., eBay, and then dropshipping from BL.

Is it allowed on bricklink?

I believe it's allowed, one wishes that buyers would be a bit more honest
though.

You can't list items you don't own, but that is in the sellers control.
1.2.8 Exact quantity: The quantity of the item that you are listing for sale
must not be greater than the quantity you have physical possession of in the
country in which your BrickLink store is registered. Drop shipping is not permitted.
The only exception to this is a custom fan magazine that has to be pre-ordered
and the Buyer is made aware of this in the item description.
But a nothing says a dropshipper couldn't order from bricklink. Besides there
are tons of different reasons to ship to a different address: a gift, item you
were short on, completing a transaction, trades how and shipping to hotel, business
partner, relative that doesn't like the internet, friend that doesn't
want the hassle to setup a bl account.

I don't care where I send the item and I don't care if a dropshipper
orders from me. I just think it's lame when they dissemble and claim they're
sending a gift.

My account is currently sitting with two nss despite providing bricklink with
the details it needs to remove them.
In the past it would be sorted overnight but it's been about 2 weeks I believe.
I'm scared to open a new ticket in case it goes back to the end of the queue
again

How much data space would it take to have two catalogs? One for detailed data
and one for generalized marketplace?
|
The problem isn’t space, it’s consistency and workload.
Basically, you’re doubling the workload.
If you make a change in one of the catalogues, should it be echoed on the other
one? To which extent? Can that be automatized?
In the software world, that’s called a fork (external / by another team) or a
branch (internal / by the same team).
We have tools and procedures to follow and “port” (transfer, apply) changes between
branches / versions / forks (‘diffs’ and ‘patches’ and ‘version control system’
(git, bitkeeper, mercurial…)).
And those tools are good and ‘smart.’ They can work around other changes and
differences that shouldn’t change (and (good) devs are lazy: everything that
can be automatized is automatized).
But we ALWAYS need to check the changes. The changes may apply without a hitch…
but they may break the program because they contradict an older change. That
can also be automatized, to some extent. But it’s work again and you can never
predict everything so you always need to check.
Duplicating a database and the changes on the database can be automitized in
the same way: changes are just instructions, like a program. So the same porting
solutions & problems apply: Should that change be applied? Can it be applied?
Should another change be applied instead? And you always need to check, check,
check.
Also, you first need to record these instructions. AFAIK, BrickLink’s changelogs
aren’t complete / sufficient.
TL;DR: It’s the same as the work done by Rebrickable: another catalogue, with
conversion tables, with changes to follow / apply or not, with errors or misses…,
and with a full team to manage it.
It could be a bit simpler and you could save a bit by keeping it inside BrickLink,
but that won’t remove most of the work needed.
Another possibility is to handle that in only one “catalogue,” with two (or more!)
different ways to present its info. The work would be done only once, in the
more detailed catalogue, and there would be mechanisms to hide the details to
the users. But that’s the same as the “umbrella part” solution: you need to
change the whole structure of the database and the way the site works. That
can’t be patched onto what exists now (which is already patched enough with spaghetti
and sauce as it is).

Is their a way, without going through it line by line, to part out the pieces
from the playscale set into my UCS wanted list?
Many thanks,

Hi,
To part out a set: hover over the white, heart-shaped “Want” icon and click “Part
Out”: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/partout.page
But you can’t “apply” a Wanted List (or an inventory) to another one on BrickLink,
to remove the parts you already have. You need to use third-party tools, like
BrickStore (application) or Rebrickable (website).

NOK, Nokia Oyj shares?
Okay, I get it, Norwegian Krone Euro conversions have been somewhat wonky for
reasons outside the sphere of influence of BL and third party, and beyond whatever
site issue there might also be.

The conversion rates are just fine. Both listings are correctly converted. To
me this looks like a sorting issue in BL.
