  Hi,

I would be happy when you could include the seller option to enable/disable PayPal
for countries with Euro currency

Countries see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro#Direct_usage

Reason: Everyone within the Euro currency zone can pay via bank transfer and
this is free of charge for sellers and buyers. It's also very fast (payment
takes 2-3 days). But seller could save unnecessary PayPal fee.

Thanks,
Markus

This would be great for scammers too. Direct payments to a bank account with
no recompense for buyers when the seller disappears.

If anything like this is implemented, I hope BL would have a very large warning
about checking out the seller first.

Oh come on! 75% of my BL payments go by bank transfer, all items on second hand
websites around here go by bank transfer, pretty much everything goes by bank
transfer. Sure people could technically steal, but that's always the case,
and people will always find ways if they really want to. That issue (which is
actually a non-issue, if you ask me ) is completely unrelated to this particular
suggestion.

Ah, but you are a good seller with a decent history here.

Would you pay a zero feedback seller by bank transfer? If BL makes it normal
that sellers can opt out of taking paypal for inter-EU transactions, then it
wouldn't surprise me if the number of scams went up too.

PS I have nothing against people taking payment by bank transfer if the buyer
has confidence in the seller paying that way.

Well, maybe, but I think it in reality it's not so bad. Why? The national
second hand website over here, marktplaats.nl, is notorious for its absense of
moderation and greedy Dutch folk who pretend everything is a collectors item
and every kind of damage is a feature. Everything is bank transfer, but even
there I've never been actually scammed in that way, and I haven't heard
stories like that either.

It's like when chatting just started to catch on and people feared everyone's
identity would be stolen. We could technically get some kind of passport verification,
but in reality it turns out it's not all that bad. It's nice PayPal has
all that claiming stuff (I have no idea how that works though) but a little bit
of risk in life is fine. It's only a tiny bit, because only a seller's
first transaction is a zero feedback transaction, and you can get in touch with
seller to say hi first, or first place a small order, etc.

So would you send an untraceable payment to a country like Estonia or Latvia
or Greece or Cyprus or Italy, just to save the seller a few percent? I've
nothing against those countries but they have their fair share of scams coming
from them (not on BL, but more generally).

It's the difference from going from a relatively small country where no-one
is that far from someone else to going to a whole continent.

Fair enough.. well, I guess I would first get in touch and explain. Maybe get
a solution like send half first, half later, or agree on using PayPal anyway
for that one time, or something else. If it were a small order, 10-15 euro, like
most orders really are, I would just go ahead and do it.
But really as for the Liam Neeson thing, flipping things around: I wouldn't
feel comfortable for my own sake if I had scammed someone and they know my name
and where I live (because that's what you have when you have IBAN). I would
share the address with all of my friends.. prank time
