I figured it had to do with where BL was hosted in Indiana (Northstar?), since admin lived in HI.    I think it came from the fact the bricklink was brickBay and copied from ebay. Ebay made bricklink change its name. ebay did run on pacific coast time and I believe it still does, I have not checked the time thing in a long while. However most of bricklink is the offspring of ebay. John P
