You could then use that logic for pretty much everything in the catalogue… it’s
best to over estimate the weight for shipping rather then underestimate. But
even so it isn’t going to be anything crazy

Ok, just found it strange that a item with weight varying from box to box could
have a weight attached to it.

Ok, just found it strange that a item with weight varying from box to box could
have a weight attached to it.

It's not strange at all. It's very, very normal.

For example, most every set for North America is heavier than the sets distributed
elsewhere. The boxes and instructions use different paper. Depending on the size
of the set, it can easily be a difference of 10-20%.

It has to be somewhere in between the weight of the box plus the six times the
weight of the lightest minifigure polybag and the weight of the box plus six
times the weight of the heaviest minifigure polybag ... in no case would it be
zero.
