you can see there’s only one other variant (pic below).

If the one you have or the one you want has a solid stud, you want the -a variant,
the older variant.
Otherwise, you want the generic modern one.

That does not help me. when I specifically know that the blocked open stud version exists. Why is there not an example of this particular minifig head? They came in abundance [...]
