| Thanks Jen - I don't have the accurate weight (trying to find a better and
specific source online). Once I find something I'll be sure to submit a correction.
If anyone else has a solid source - that's welcome too!
Thanks again!

I have a sealed set sitting in my collection at the moment. If you require a
weight taken from a recently purchased sealed set, I might be able to buy a weight
scale and submit the weight for it via the add/change system.
I'd only do that though if asked to do so. I do need a new weighing scale
anyway, as the current scale I had been using had alkaline batteries in it which
leaked all over the internal circuits and rendered the scale inoperable.

OK but please remember to subtract the weight of the Earth above you in AU, approx
5,972 × 10^24 kg.
Seriously, nowadays buying a scale is really cheap

If it's not one of those cheap Chinese scales that fails due to alkaline
leakage corroding the internals, then it should be just fine.
As to your comment regarding the weight of the Earth, are you taking my post
seriously or not? I just am not in the mood for jokes regarding weights for an
item right now. Horrible people still exist in this world, and I ran into one
this morning.
Your post, whilst you intended it to be humorous, is just not what I'd expect
from you right now.

They're almost all chinese anyway.
You could have a $500 one to count parts, a $50 one to weight mail and parcels,
a $20 one you can transport in your pocket...
I don't think a Set requires a 0.01g precision.

Thank you for the offer, but I would never make anyone buy a scale to weigh one
set for the catalog. Set weights and box dimensions are actually two sets of
data that come relatively quickly without anyone needing to ask for it. We should
have a new weight very soon, so please do not go out of your way to do this.
Cheers,
Randy

I see that the weight has been submitted as 695 grams. I purchased a cheap Anko
kitchen scale and it was off by 15 grams, showing a weight of 710 grams. This
was what I expected of the cheap scales flooding the market nowadays. I obviously
need to find something better than cheap Chinese junk scales for weighing purposes.
Does anyone know of a decent brand of weighing scales accurate enough to weigh
a LEGO set sealed in the box?
Cheers ...

There could be many reasons, including temperature, humidity, a different production
(factory) or batch (especially for carton and paper - instructions), stickers
or not, etc.

I don't think a 2% difference for a Set means your scale is OFF.

Sure!

Not the same price anyway.
But again, I don't think we can get ANY weight that's "quite the
same" of a Set around the world, and depending when and where.

Nice set of scales. I didn't see any spec sheets or pricing information on
that site though. Unless there's some distributor that sells them through
retail stores where I live, I might have to contact them manually.
Specifications are always nice to have, doesn't matter what it is, accuracy
has always been important to me.
