Quick comparison photos
The angles and slightly different sorry about that

Looking at it it almost seems like the tail of the new hat is slightly longer
but I measured it with a electric measuring thing and it was the same size so
I’m not sure ifs just the angle or if I’m going crazy. If someone else who has
both could check also that would be great

It's a difference after all indeed 
Maybe you could also add comparison images of the build Minifigures? To compare
with this one
For if this part needs a new entry, set 10790-1 also needs a new Minifigure.
I wonder if the difference is easy to see when the Hat is on the Head.

FWIW I think it's just the angle. The tail of the purple one is turned more
toward the camera than the tail of the brown one. I think to take an accurate
photo you have to have them facing opposite directions
