I got 1096 at a flea market a few days ago and wanted to check it out on bricklink.
But when I looked it up I noticed that bricklink says it’s from 97’. But other
sources say that the set didn’t release till 99’. Maybe someone mixed up the
2 other versions they made? If there’s a way to fix I’d love to do so

As you can see in the images the box and brickset say it’s from 99’. But bricklink
says 97’

LEGO also says 1999 and that is the copyright date on the instructions:
https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/1096

However LEGO has a date of 1997 for the similar sets 6400 and 6406.

The copyright on the set packaging indeed says 1999. I have updated this in the
database.

Thank you for letting us know!

Cheers,
