Suggestion: Part 37494 Train Pantograph Shoe has no hinge component and is widely
used for other purposes outside of a train, and without a hinge around. It is
just bar connections all around. This part should be listed either under Bar
or otherwise under Train in the catalog (since its original purpose may have
been for electric trains).

Meanwhile, the old part 2881/2922 did have a hinge component and can be left
alone under hinge. If part 37494 moves to train in the inventory, however, I'd
argue 2881/2922 should join it there despite having a hinge component.

It would be so nice if some parts could be in multi categories.

Yes. I agree. I've suggested moving it to Bar. Was declined. Who knows one
day?

On the other hand this one should move to Plant:

I totally agree with you. I believe this part definitely needs to move. Because
it has no hinge, it should have never ended up in the hinge category.

Since we have category definitions to refer to at

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1568

we can see that the Hinge category is defined as "...items that facilitate
one degree of movement when connected, that were designed for that sole function,
and that are not clip attachments." This part does not fit that definition.

For the Bar category, the item must "...prominently feature a bar or bar
receptacle".

https://www.bricklink.com/myImg/654346.jpg

This part does that in spades.

Not to mention that the part was only used as a pantograph shoe a couple of times
and is generic enough to be used for many other things (which it has been). Therefore,
it should not be located in the Train category either.

I have added this part to our next set of catalog changes to occur on or about
May 1, 2023:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2571

We just need a good name for it now.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Feel free to look at the current Bar category for inspiration:

Cheers,
Randy

Call it Bar (insert dimensions here) with 2 connecting bars (size) -inside-

I do not have the piece on hand so cannot get measurements.
