Some people are incredibly resourceful. Once upon a time, I came across a few
AA/AAA power functions battery boxes that someone (probably me ) had forgotten
to take the batteries out of and by the time I found them several years later
they were corroded shut. I sold them for cheap on BrickLink to a buyer that was
able to clean them and restore them to useable condition.

Yes it’s not right to give the poor our garbage, if we can’t use it because it’s so badly damaged, than they probably can’t.
