Bought a set sold as NISB. Seller shipped it fast, but packed it very poorly
using an old Amazon box and only put a little bit of brown paper within the box

The package was delivered squashed and the inner box of the set was damaged (both
squashed, creased and also ended up tearing on one spot).

I contacted the seller asking for a discount. They said that if they can get
a refund from the carrier, they will give me a discount, but since I didn't
"accept the parcel with reserve" I was most likely out of luck (worth
noting the courier just left it at reception, I didn't even have a chance
to meet the delivery guy).

I contacted the seller again, reminding them that it's their responsibility
to sell the product as advertised (especially considering it was packed REALLY
BADLY).
They have been ignoring me since.

What do you think I should do?
I have never left a negative feedback before, but this doesn't seem right.

I am not sure the laws in Italy, but for your country specifically you would
have to read the Codice del Consumo.

From my understanding EU consumer law provides that a merchant must repair, replace,
reduce the price or give you a refund if goods you bought turn out to be faulty
or do not look or work as advertised.

In the US it is the merchant's legal responsibility to provide the product
to the customer in the manner and condition described. For a merchant to do otherwise
is fraud.

In this instance the seller was negligent, unless you had an agreement with the
seller that you would accept less protection for a lower shipping cost or specified
in writing somewhere that you did not care about the box condition.

Amazon boxes do not have sufficient ECT (edge crush test) rating to product a
thin cardboard set.

The order for disputes is
1.) Try to resolve with seller via email.
2.) NSS
3.) Paypal dispute
4.) Card issuer

The negative feedback should be an afterthought compared to getting compensation,
and I wouldn't do it unless you had to escalate to a Paypal dispute or further.
