These are tricky — Dark Red wasn't introduced to the palette until much later, so I doubt that TLG would consider it the same color. I think in some cases it might actually be just red over black — see the first attached picture, where the maroon looks like just red where it overlaps the peach. In the second photo, you can see a sliver of red on the bottom right edge, which implies that the two black checkers were overprinted with a full red shield. But I've yet to see a misalignment that actually reveals the black layer itself. After looking at set pictures on google/brickshelf, I think all the peach printing on those shields (and all the torsos that feature that shield design) are likely the same Nougat, it just varies a bit based on the part color showing through. (I REALLY wish I could find more info on old ink colors!)
