You'll want to ensure you've refunded anyone you collected taxes from in error so you don't get into legal troubles with the CRA. If you're wanting to voluntarily register, you need to do so and have your GST/HST number ready and included in your invoice templates prior to collection. Ouch! But I guess he's registered and forgot to mention this on his Terms, and is probably already including those numbers in his Invoices.
