In everything you wrote the thing that stood out most of all was the sentiment that the young can be "hooked" on debt because they know no better. That is the fault of their parents, not the financial system. Let's keep this Lego related. It is the parents' job to ensure their child(ren) knows the optimal way to buy more Lego. Sometimes debt is under priced and you should acquire ludicrous brick mountains. Generally it isn't, and you can only dream of plastic hills.
