Personal opinion but I want nothing to do with them if not new from sets. 
Much easier to sort minifigure heads despite similarities and stud type.

With used minidolls I just stick any old heads, torsos and legs together so long
as the skin colours match, add a random hair and then batch them together and
stick on ebay or Facebook. No identification needed, and the proper complete
figures are rarely worth much anyway so selling as random figures doesn't
lose you anything.
