The date stamped on my   *  85054c01 Arm Rock Monster Large, Left Parts: Minifigure, Body Part shows 2008. - Pat The date(s) released is populated by the years of the sets that the piece is found in. The date stamp is built into the mold when the mold is designed. It is pretty much always at LEAST a year before it actually is in a set for sale.
