There are more than 20,000 items in the catalog without dimensions. Catalog dimensions
are only added when the item fits within the normal stud/brick height system.

If it can't be reasonably measured in studs vs brick height, a part will
have no data at all.

This is one of the incongruities of BrickLink. Dimensions are measured in studs
(system or duplo) in the Catalog, but the override fields below a lot entry are
in millimeters.
For example, a Duplo Brick 2600 shows on the catalog page as "Size: 2 x 6 x 1
in studs", but underneath a listed lot it is …
DimX(mm): 96mm
DimY(mm): 23.6mm
DimZ: (mm) 32mm
(and yes, the semi-colon is used inconsistently there)
I do not wish that we entered by studs for manual overrides, but it's clear
to me that the system is converting from one to another for the benefit of IC.
It's also clear that you can override any part to any set of dimensions if
you wanted to.
