I started my store Bricks, Plates, and Tiles in 2014 as a way to supplement my LEGO hobby. I typically have around a few thousand parts in the store, usually older and hard to find bricks. I also sell on craigslist and ebay, but not that often.

Counts of LEGO Sets and Minifigs by Year
The following link is to a visualization tool called Tableau. The visualization uses data provided by BrickLink and shows the number of sets per year, the number of minifigs per year, and even has a top sets by number of parts. The charts allow you to select a genre, like Harry Potter, and it shows a list of all the sets, the year each one was released, and the number of parts in the set.
