One of the guidelines for Series 5, under "Building Instructions", says
"Don’t build more than thirty studs in any direction unless it’s one full
element". I believe this used to be 12 studs, and the corresponding image
still says 12 studs. I just want to make sure that 30 studs is correct?
Thank you.

Hi,
Indeed, they changed it to “thirty” in the text. I don’t remember it being mentioned
during the webinar 🤔
Maybe it’s to allow us to do things like place tiles on a baseplate in less than
150 steps
Anyway, remember that those are guidelines, they are not applied too strictly
(for instance, with the previous value of 12, BL was okay if you were over 12
studs if you had a good reason).
Also, the instructions will be re-made by professionals. You need to make instructions
so that:
— they serve as a base,
— they allow BrickLink and YOU to check if your model is buildable.
So the guidelines are here to make the instructions clear and easy to follow
and to easily check your model.
For this guideline, they just want each step to be manageable and that you don’t
put a lot of parts here and there on the build. If you go over 12 (even more
with 30), the reader may miss a part or three.
For instance, it should be okay to place 4x Tile 1x8 on the border of a baseplate
(even if it’s over 30 studs!). But it won’t be okay to place 40 tiles of different
colours and sizes and shapes in all the corners of a baseplate, even if it’s
in a zone below 12x12.
Keep that in mind and your submission will be okay
